RESIDENCE AT THANE

Small apartment, minimalist and up-cycled, would aptly define this project. Designing on tight budgets is challenging and makes you work your way out of compromises. Once the total budget was worked out, it was prioritized. The civil work and glazing took precedence in this case.
The material board alongside was chosen to have earthy and neutral colours set the tone for the project. Most of the existing furniture was up-cycled and reused. This helped in cutting down the material cost by almost 30%. The result was an eclectic and minimalist aesthetic.

The television unit and bookshelf were made out of four different pieces of existing furniture. One sheet of veneer, wood for handles were all that was necessary to complete this unit. The entire unit can be dismantled into four parts to maintain flexibility during any future renovation that might be undertaken.

The kitchen was designed to be functional and minimalistic. Maximizing storage was a key requirement. This was achieved by planning a C-shaped counter. Neutral tones were selected for all shutters so as to lessen their impact. Finger grip details for all handles made a seamless look possible. Efficient hardware and low maintenance surfaces were used to ensure smooth functioning.

Handle details contribute to the minimalism and simplicity of the design. Functional detailing at minimum cost.
